Adding the Details

The details of the scene were then made, beginning with the vase with the foliage in it. The vase was made by simply using the tube tool and placing a base at the bottom and the twigs were made by creating a profile with the line tool and then sweeping this profile. This image was then copied quite a few times and then adjusted by moving, rotating and scaling them. Also little spot lights were added to the top of the shelves using the cylinder tool.

The plate on the table was created by making a simple box but increasing the segments on the length and width. This box was then made into an editable mesh and the centre vertex was selected, making sure the ‘ignore back facing’ option was left unchecked and the soft selection was on, the vertex was then moved downwards. This created the plate and this object was then moved and placed onto the table.

With the standing lamp the lathe tool was used to create the lamp shade. The profile was drawn and then selected using the sweep tool to revolve the image. The axis was then adjusted to give the right shape of the object. The rest of the object was made from using the cylinder and sphere tool. Using the same methods as before a TV, DVD player and freeview box were created and placed on the scene.

Basics of Creating the Interior

To start off with the scene the walls were created using the create > aec extended > wall tool and a simple square room was created.

The objects then needed to be placed in the room, starting with the table. This was created quite simply using the box tool, creating a thin rectangle shape and then long rectangles for the legs. The next step was to create the sofas for the living room. These were made by solely using the chamfer box tool. The base, armrests, back and cushions were created with this tool and the feet were made using the normal box tool. These items were then placed together and grouped to create the sofa. Copies of this were used to make a 1 piece, 2 piece and 3 piece sofa set. Next the extended wall piece was made again using the box tool; the auto grid was turned on so the box was drawn against the wall. Then the shape of the shelve could be drawn against the wall by drawing a profile of the shelve and extruding it out.

Design Idea

The idea that i want to use for my animation is to start with the interior of a living room. The camera will be in the 1st person perspective. The person will walk around the room and then eventually sit down to read a holiday brochure. When flicking through the brochure he see's a page with a picture of a theme park, which come to life. The next part of the scene will be the person rushing out of the door to book his tickets for this place!!
